CSD DWELLING UNIT 1.6 - San Francisco, 2011
XAM has taken his wealth of information from his architectural studies at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago alongside his deep seeded love of nature, and passion for exploration to create urban aviary structures that hang from city signs as well as units built for their specific site. The bird-oriented architecture takes on unique contemporary sustainable attributes such as: green roofs, passive solar heating, passive ventilation, precipitation aided plumbing, modularity, latest “green” materials, solar powered porch lights to attract insects and so on.

XAM views his hybrid work as a way to bridge the gap between academic design and street art, as well as a way to educate surrounding communities about sustainability paired with a sometimes humorist twist.

His work has been found on streets, galleries and museums in London, Beirut, Mexico City, Melbourne, Tokyo, Costa Rica, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Connecticut and perhaps soon in an industrial urban area near.
